TOUR ITINERARY

 

Day 1 | – Arrival Leh

  • Your trip begins with your arrival at the ancient city of Leh, which has been a site for major historic events and also been a cultural center for decades.
  • The state of Jammu and Kashmir is situated at the northernmost part of the country surrounded by the Western Himalayan range.
  • On arrival, you would be met by our representative and you’re driven in a private cab in the city towards your hotel/guest house/homestay, our representative would help you with the check-in process.
  • Relax and unwind at the hotel/guest house/homestay for the rest of the day and not venture anywhere outside as your body needs to acclimatize for the height and atmosphere. We sincerely recommend to let your body acclimatize for the day.
  • Dinner hotel/guest house/homestay for the night.

 

Day 2 | – Leh Tour

  • Post breakfast you would visit the monasteries around Leh in your private cab.
  • Leh is a large town in the Ladakh region on the banks of the mighty Indus River.
  • We would drive down to Hemis monastery built during the 16th century by Senge Nampar Gyalva. The village of Hemis is close to the Hemis National Park that is home to the endangered snow leopard.
  • On the way back we would cover Thiksey Monastery which is noted for its resemblance of Potala Palace in Lhasa, Shey Palace built by Deldan Namgyal which was used as a summer retreat by the kings of Ladakh, Stok Palace the summer home to Ladakhi royalty Namgyal dynasty and Shanti Stupa on the hilltop of Changspa.
  • You get some time off in the evening for shopping at the local Leh market.
  • Return to hotel/guest house/homestay for the night.

 

Day 3 | – Nubra via Kardung-La

  • Post breakfast you would be picked by our taxi and head towards Nubra, it’s a 7 – 8-hour ride based on the weather conditions and traffic.
  • Nubra is about 150 km from Leh town and a high altitude cold desert popular called orchard of Ladakh.
  • A quick stop at Kardung-La pass which is claimed as the world’s highest motorable road which has been proved incorrect though there is the board that states this fact.
  • The sand dunes of Hunder has the Bactrian Camels (double hump).
  • Enjoy the beautiful settings of Nubra for the evening.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at Camp or hotel.

 

Day 4 | – Nubra

  • We make an early morning start and head towards Diskit Monastery which is one of the oldest monasteries in the region which dates back to 14th century.
  • It belongs to Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism and founded by Changzem Tserab Zangpo.
  • There is also a popular festival known as Dosmoche referred as ‘Festival of the Scapegoat’ held in the winter month of February.
  • Post Diskit Monastery proceed back to Leh again driving back via Kardung-La.
  • In case you have reached early, head out to the local market for some more shopping.
  • Return to hotel/guest house/homestay for the night.

 

 

Day 5 | – Lamayuru

  • Post breakfast you would be picked by a taxi and head towards Lamayuru, it’s a 4 to 5-hour ride based on the weather conditions and traffic.
  • Lamayuru nicknamed the moonland for its unique land formations which resemble moonscapes.
  • Lamayuru monastery is one of the oldest gompa dating back to Rinchen-Zang-Po’s times and host to two annual masked dance festivals during the second and fifth month of Tibetan Lunar calendar.
  • Post-Lamayuru, a quick stopover at Nimmu which is the confluence of Indus and Zanskar Rivers.
  • On the way back to Leh we would have another stop at the Magnetic hill and Gurudwara Pathar Sahib.
  • Return to hotel/guest house/homestay for the night.

 

Day 6 | – Departure Leh

  • It is time to bid adieu to Leh and head to the airport to your flight back home with an enriched experience and memories of a lifetime.
